Proverbs 3:14(MSG)
She's worth far more than money in the bank; her friendship is better than a big salary.
"Everything under heaven belongs to me," (Job 41:11 ESV) states God.
There you have it. Everything under heaven already belongs to God, but yet we wear ourselves out trying to get more and more in material wealth. Why do we do that? Is it competition with our neighbors? Do we behave this way in an attempt to obtain the elusive sense of security that we think comes from a big bank account? Do we constantly try to shovel more money in the bank, so that we can pour it into entertainment for ourselves at a later date?
I don't have the answers to these questions. I know for me personally, it could be a combination of all of the above. I know that I need to be a good steward of the material wealth that the Lord has allowed us to acquire with the talents He has given us. I recognize, however, that the focus should not be the money in the bank....because that has fleeting value. What will last is the prudent choices that we make with Lady Wisdom ( Proverbs 3:13) today. As we cultivate that friendship with the Holy Spirit and allow Him to be our decision maker in all areas of our lives, we will walk a life that will consistently bring God glory....and isn't that what the purpose is....in our story....to bring Him glory? Praying tonight to stay focused on Him and not on the things that will eventually all fade away.
