Book Review: The Ultimate Guide To the Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola

The Ultimate Guide To the Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola is a wonderful book to help you prepare for participation in a Daniel Fast.

This concise and very well organized book is a great tool and companion as you navigate this fasting practice.  The fact that the author is a nutritional consultant and a fitness instructor give her words even more merit. The book clearly defines what fasting is and what fasting is not.  The author also goes on to outline the different types of fasting.  She discusses the importance of spiritual preparation and physical preparation prior to embarking on the Daniel Fast, during the fast, and in the days after the fast.
There is a complete section of twenty-one heart felt daily devotions that can be used as a springboard to deepen your spiritual focus throughout the fasting period.  Finally, there is a meal preparation section complete with recipes that are Daniel Fast approved.  The recipes are easy to follow and very user friendly.
This is one book that I will definitely be keeping close at hand.  I have completed the Daniel Fast twice in the past, but I spent a great deal of my time trying to figure out what I could eat and what I shouldn't eat.  This book takes the mystery right out of it and places the emphasis on the Lord and your journey with Him.  The planning section will allow for your fast to be a time of prayerful retreat rather than a time of disordered confusion ending in failure.  Kristen Feola's encouraging words are a must read for anyone who is wanting to grow close to the Lord and take part in a Daniel Fast.
