An Abomination

Proverbs 3:32 (ESV)
for the devious person is an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.

I painted a room in our house today.  It is a gorgeous dark color that I put over a light colored wall.

I applied one coat of paint to the wall, but the bright color continued to show through.  After applying a second coat, the bright under color was definitely almost gone, but not completely.  It took three coats of paint to completely drown out the previous color.

I figure it is a lot like that with the Lord.  I read in His word that He abhors our lies, manipulations, and devious actions.  God probably wants to drown us in our ridiculous behavior, but He doesn't.  Instead He beckons for us to come to Him with a contrite heart.  When we do that, He forgives us and lets us live in "His confidence."  1John 1:9 (ESV) says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleans us from all unrighteousness."  Praying tonight to remain in His confidence through a walk that is upright and totally honest.
