Listen Up

Proverbs 1:8  (MSG)
Pay close attention, friend, to what your father tells you;  never forget what you learned at your mother's knee.

I'm pretty sure there have been entire books written on this one sentence.  Powerful stuff!

I have a very close relationship with my parents, so for me this one is easy.  I respect them and soak up what they tell me.  The older I get, the more I have come to appreciate their opinions and feelings on issues.  As I am a parent now, I realize that this is something that cannot be forced.  It is a choice whether we hear and apply what our parents (or parent figures) share with us.  I have chosen in the past and will continue to earnestly listen to their guidance.
