Ancient Landmark Words

Psalm 119:52 (MSG)
I watch for Your ancient landmark words, and know I'm on the right track.

I was sleeping so soundly, that when the first loud clap of thunder roared, it about sent me flying out of the bed! I sat straight up, eyes darting to and fro around the room in an effort to reorient myself.  After realizing it was a storm, I nestled back down under the covers and went back  to sleep, confidently relying on our storm sirens to activate if there was a need to seek shelter in the basement.

When I awoke in the morning, I found my daughter curled up on the couch beside our bed.  I asked her why she had come in our room, and she told me that the storm had scared her.  She said that she had been asleep when the loud thunder woke her.  She became frightened and went into her closet with her Bible.  She opened it to Isaiah where she read His "ancient landmark words", that told her God is her rock and her shelter.  She read that He is always with her and that she doesn't need to be afraid.  She said those words comforted her and helped her tremendously!  She came into our room and quickly fell back asleep, knowing that God is in control of her life and He is right by her side.

What a blessing to me, as a Mom, to witness my daughter in an active relationship with a mighty and Holy God who loves her and cares so deeply for all that she is going through!  Quite frankly, I can't think of anything more rewarding than that.

Most Holy God,
Thank you for Your words that are always true and provide us with such comfort in the literal and figurative storms of each of our lives.  We are so blessed to be called Your children.
Amen

Running With Joy

Psalm 119:45(MSG)
And I'll stride freely through wide open spaces as I look for Your truth and Your wisdom.

I spotted these two beauties frolicking by the pond.

Oops, I think he heard my camera click

Time to get back to writing!  Hopefully you are having a great summer so far.  As I stared out the window yesterday, these two beautiful fawns were "freely" running in the open field.  They were playing with each other and then stopping to take quick drinks from the pond in between their dances.  After watching them jump and kick for several minutes, I caught some movement in the thicket near by.  Upon closer observation, I could see Mama Deer hiding in the brush keeping a watchful eye on her charges.

A beautiful picture of our lives was going on just outside my window.  As a child of God, we get to enjoy the sweetness of His creation while He stands guard over us.  He has allowed us to pick up joy and run with it.  We are surrounded with the Lord's truth and wisdom, we need only look for it.

Father,
Thank you for letting me enjoy Your creation.  Lead me into Your truth and wisdom as I walk without chains.  Reveal new insight into Your Word and let my heart fill with the warmth of Your love.
Amen

Miracles In The Storm

Psalm 139:4(NIV)
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, oh Lord.

Words are coming out of a small town not too far from here about a tornado that has touched down and caused massive damage with loss of life.  Devastating news.  It's hard to imagine what grief is being lived out right now, even as I type these words.
But God knows....God sees....God is on the throne.....and He is not shaken.  He remains our answer in all things.

I look to Him tonight and lift up those who have been impacted by these storms.  Praying for safety to those that are still needing to be rescued and healing to those that have been injured.   I'm asking for comfort for families who have lost loved ones.  Praying for good news of miraculous wonders in the midst of the storm.

Psalm 77:14 (NIV)
You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

Right There With You

Proverbs 3:26 (MSG)
Because God will be right there with you;  He'll keep you safe and sound.

We were leaving for our family vacation and had arrived at the airport with just enough time to run to the ticket counter and make our departure.  My husband and I were dodging in and out of the sea of people trying to maneuver ourselves to the attendant.  Finally, we got to the baggage check in area.  As we stood juggling our luggage and trying to dig out our itenerary, I looked behind me to make sure that the kids were with me.  There was the oldest child, but where was our little two year old!??
