Proverbs 1:27 (MSG)
What if catastrophe strikes and there's nothing to show for your life but rubble and ashes?
I am the absolute queen of the "what if"! I'm not very fond of that fact sometimes, but I have come to recognize the tendency and have chosen to see it as a gift rather than a burden.
It is a gift to think "what if", because it allows me to have forsight and be prepared for situations, but at certain times, if I am not careful, I can turn my gift into thoughts that become fearful. The way I guard against this, is by frequently referring to Psalm 27:1~(ESV): "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" With this verse, I have the assurance that my bond with the Lord will allow me to face whatever comes my way. I will prepare for the future, by holding tighter to Him!! My prayer for this New Year's Day (and for 2011) is that He will become greater in my life and I will become less.
Psalm 27 is my favorite Psalm! Happy New Year!
